Metanoia
Artist Statement:
A visual, sonic, and philosophical rumination on transformation. Metanoia indulges in the parallels between the micro and macro of human existence, creating fertile ground for accidental meditation. The piece is a memorial for my late parents and a musing on the cyclical nature of the universe. An exercise in collective healing, Metanoia investigates the conversion of energy from generation to generation, motion to motion, and sound to sound. A manifestation of unraveling and embracing our voices, the score layers new music by Joe Berry with lost and found recordings of my father’s.
Metanoia premiered in June 2022 as part of The Odyssey Theatre’s Dance at the Odyssey Festival, which is curated and produced by Barbara Wittmann & Beth Hogan.
